Stress can sometimes feel like it’s all-encompassing, and while it might feel like there’s no way out of it, there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel.

If you’re not taking control of or managing your stress well, then this is where it can start to affect your health and wellbeing. With that being said, here are five ways to combat stress and improve your well-being this year.

1. Prioritize your sleep

Sleep is always worth getting more of where you can. Whether it’s switching up your bedtime routine to an earlier time, to adjusting your sleep space for a more relaxed environment.

Not everyone is getting the right amount of sleep they need, which is why it’s important to try and improve your sleep where you can. Look at getting a good seven to nine hours of sleep per night. This will help to improve your overall well-being and state of mind. Try listening to sleep sounds or having a warm bath or shower before bed.

2. Practice mindfulness and relaxation techniques

Practicing mindfulness and relaxation techniques are two great ways to handle what stress does to your mind and body. Being mindful of what you have and listening to your body in the moment can be very powerful stuff indeed.

Relaxation techniques are often used by those who are struggling with their stress levels and the management of stress in general. You may want to try meditation or look at getting a massage every now and then to relieve any tension in the body.

3. Look at alternatives

There are lots of alternatives out there. Whether it be alternative medicines or CBD & THC products for stress. Every person is an individual, and how they deal with stress may look different to other people.

Explore what alternatives are out there and try some holistic treatments and lifestyle changes that may influence and aid your stress levels, where required.

4. Find activities you enjoy to serve as a distraction

Activities are always good to distract your brain from what’s making you feel stressed. Having a distraction is useful to have, so look at what activities you could be doing.

This could be doing something social with your friends or family members. It might be playing a sport or reading a new book you haven’t dived into yet.

The more stress outlets you have to tackle that stress in your life, the less stressed you’re likely to be as a result.

5. Cut out the stressors where possible

This is easier said than done, like a job that’s stressful, for example. Some people can’t just walk away from a job, as they may be the breadwinner in the family.

However, if the stress comes from work, you could always set boundaries or take steps to find a new job that doesn’t cause as much stress. It’s always good to look at ways in which you could remove the stressors from your life.

Combating stress and improving your wellbeing can really help to improve the quality of your life and health, so make these changes where you can.
