Synopsis: The oasis saved them. But who will save them from the oasis?
Alif had exciting summer plans: working on her father’s archaeological dig site in the desert with four close friends . . . and a very cute research assistant. Then the sandstorm hit.
With their camp wiped away, Alif and the others find themselves lost on the sands, seemingly doomed . . . until they find the oasis. It has everything they need: food, water, shade—and mysterious ruins that hide a deadly secret. As reality begins to shift around them, they question what’s real and what’s a mirage.
The answers turn Alif and her friends against one another, and they begin to wonder if they’ve truly been saved. And while it was easy to walk into the oasis, it may be impossible to leave . . .
Katya de Becerra’s new supernatural thriller hides a mystery in plain sight, and will keep you guessing right up to its terrifying conclusion.

The bright and colorful cover of this book was the first thing that grabbed my attention, I’m not going to lie. It really stands out from a lot of other book covers. I loved that, so I instantly wanted to read it.
The promise of a supernatural thriller really excited me. I have such a love of thrillers (and supernatural books), so I thought that this would make a wonderful combination and a great read. I was so excited to see what this book was going to have to offer. The premise made it sound really interesting so I was really anticipating reading it.
The plot is pretty fast paced. I don’t think it’s fast paced in a bad way, but I found that I really had to pay attention to what was going on in order to keep up. I do like books like that though, because they keep my attention and keep me turning pages until I reach the very end, which was the case here.
The characters were pretty interesting, too. They were written in a pretty detailed way, and I found myself getting close to them while I was reading the book. I like a book with characters that bring the story to life, so I was happy about that!
If you like twists and turns that you won’t see coming, this is a good book. I honestly couldn’t have guessed that ending, which was definitely a great one. It kept me on the edge of my seat while I was reading…this is definitely a nail-biter of a book!
All in all, I found that this book was a fun read, and I flew through it kind of of fast because I just wanted to keep reading to see what happened at the end.
If you like supernatural thrillers, this is a book you definitely should not miss. Definitely looking forward to more from this author!
Note: I received an eARC of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
