A wellness routine isn’t just about working out. You can do all the exercise in the world, but if you’re not supporting yourself in other ways, you’re not committing to your health. And that’s what we’re here to help with; a good wellness routine is designed for you to feel like your best self, and to ensure you create healthy habits that stick.

Even when you’re super busy and don’t have much time to yourself throughout the day, the tips listed below will help you to practice a bit of self care (and self love) that we all need more of. Keep them in mind if you’re trying to promote your own wellness right now – they’ll be there for you through those stressful days when you really need them.

Wake Up Early, Go To Bed Early

Waking up early makes it a lot easier to go to bed at a reasonable time. Try this out for a few weeks and see how it affects your sleep cycle. However, if you’ve been struggling to sleep well for a long time now, you may want to talk to a doctor about it. You could be dealing with any number of sleep disorders that make getting those 8 hours difficult, and going through a sleep study could make all the difference for you.

Stretching is Great for Feeling Awake

Stretching is good to do first thing in the morning, and not just before and after a workout session. We already stretch when we wake up anyway, to help our muscles wake up and pop out the fluid that’s settled as we’ve slept, so why not do a few Yoga moves as well?

Get out of bed a few minutes earlier, then focus on stretching out your arms and legs while doing some deep breathing. Keep your core tight as you do so, and try to remain upright to promote a better balance as well. The more you do this, the better it’s going to feel, and then you won’t need to actively make yourself do it every morning. You’ll simply want to!

Make Good Eating Quick and Tasty

Good eating, or ‘healthy’ eating, can take a lot of effort. However, when you know how to cook quickly and without even thinking too much, you won’t need to tire yourself out at the stove during the day. The secret? Only use/make things fresh when you have to. Indeed, a lot of the most popular recipes in the world take shortcuts like this.

This southern chicken and dumplings recipe with biscuits is a classic, and might even be an old favorite of yours, but it still only takes a few minutes to put together! You’re not aiming for perfection here, you’re just eating healthy with a few caveats. You don’t even need to use fresh vegetables; frozen packets you can use for longer work just as well too.

Give Your Brain a Workout Too

Yes, your brain needs a workout. It’s a muscle just like any other, and deserves a good bit of exercise here and there. And while we’re thinking all day every day, it’s good to do something a bit different that requires mental energy to help light up and then soothe those firing neurons. This is especially a good idea if you spend a lot of time on the computer or phone.

Playing addictive games or scrolling through social media for hours, can make it hard to focus on anything else and find it fun. But if you step away/put the phone down for at least a half an hour, you’ll find it much easier to do other enjoyable things. You may even find you have a lot more time during the day when you do this!

Reading, writing, creating art or sewing/embroidery, going to a class, cooking something delicious, having fun with a friend – these are all good ways to work out your brain. Get yourself thinking in a practical way and you’ll feel great.

Remember, Each Routine is Different

Your wellness routine doesn’t have to look like those in a magazine, or in a video/post made by an influencer. Not only are these ‘images’ made to be at least a little artificial, but they’re not made for you! As such, they shouldn’t be followed as the model for a good routine for making you feel good in return. In other words, just do what you need to do for health and wellness!

It’s also worth mentioning that you should also make time for regular health checkups to stay on top of your health. If you don’t have doctors yet, you can search for a term like “dentist near me richmond hill” or “physician near me”.
