Synopsis: In middle school, words aren’t just words. They can be weapons. They can be gifts. The right words can win you friends or make you enemies. They can come back to haunt you. Sometimes they can change things forever.

When cell phones are banned at Branton Middle School, Frost and his friends Deedee, Wolf, and Bench come up with a new way to communicate: leaving sticky notes for each other all around the school. It catches on, and soon all the kids in school are leaving notes—though for every kind and friendly one, there is a cutting and cruel one as well.

In the middle of this, a new girl named Rose arrives at school and sits at Frost’s lunch table. Rose is not like anyone else at Branton Middle School, and it’s clear that the close circle of friends Frost has made for himself won’t easily hold another. As the sticky-note war escalates, and the pressure to choose sides mounts, Frost soon realizes that after this year, nothing will ever be the same.

It’s common knowledge that middle school can be one heck of an experience, and for those who have been there and dealt with it, we all have stories to tell.  For those who are going through middle school currently, this is an inspiring and fun book that will make the experience a little brighter.

Posted deals with a lot of important issues that are completely spot on for a lot of middle grade students, and if you are an older reader (like me), you’ll find that a lot of the issues are probably things that you’ve already seen while at that age.  Honestly, because of the way that this book deals with these issues (such as bullying, which is the main one), I think this book should be a required book for all middle grade and high school students.  There is so much on offer here, and it’s done in such a wonderful way that will make you feel positive vibes even after you finish the last chapter.

After cell phones are banned at school, middle grade student Frost and his friends have to come up with a new way to communicate during the school day, so they decide that they can start using Post-It notes for each other all around the school, leaving each other messages throughout the day.  Eventually other kids in the school start using this idea as a means of communicating with their friends, but then some kids start using it as a way to post hurtful and mean notes for others around the school, bullying them through public notes.

When a new girl starts at their school, things change for Frost and his group of friends, and they are threatened to be broken apart.

A lot of things are going on in this book the whole time, but the main theme that it deals with is bullying.  Anyone who has been through middle and high school knows that bullying is a serious issue that should never be taken lightly, and although it is talked about often, it still seems to be a growing issue.

Posted tackles the subject of bullying in a wonderful way, and while at times it is incredibly difficult to read because of how harsh things can get, it is important and needs to be read.  I know, you’re probably thinking – another book about bullying?

Yes, it is another book about bullying, and it’s a good thing, because honestly, I don’t think we can ever have enough books dealing with it.  But aside from just bullying, this book is about friendship, and the importance of keeping close friends throughout your school years.

The characters are really relatable and interesting, an it is told in the raw honesty that middle grade novels are often written in.  It’s such a great book to pick up for readers of any age, so give this one a try!

Note: I received an ARC of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.  Thank you!

He enjoys hiking, reading, chocolate, spending time with his family, playing the piano, chocolate, putting off the dishes, watching movies, and chocolate. Those aren’t his real teeth. Seriously. The middle four on top? Lost ’em in a car accident. It’s all right, though, the plastic ones look nice and he can still eat corn on the cob.

There are lots of ways to contact him. Telepathy, for example. Carrier pigeon. Alien distress beacon. Sky writing. Failing those, you can always e-mail him here. Be sure to tell him how his book has revolutionized your life, or, barring that, how you used it to smash a bug or something.
