The Stress Less Coloring series started a few months ago and has been putting out some quality, original coloring books for coloring enthusiasts everywhere. The latest installment in the series is Stress Less Coloring – By the Shore and features a ton of ocean and beach themed illustrations that are perfect for the start of summer!
As soon as I saw this book, I fell in love with the designs. I’ve had the chance to check out a few other books in this line of coloring books, and since every one that I’ve seen is full of high quality illustrations that are simply stunning and a lot of fun to color.
The variety of images in this book is amazing – if you can picture it being ocean/beach related, it’s definitely in here. The paper is a nice, crisp white, and only printed on one side, which is another thing I love about the Adams Media coloring books.
I used PrismaColor colored pencils and found that they work well for these books, and they blend quite beautifully to make a one of a kind picture.
Some of the illustrations do tend to run into the spine of the book, but I haven’t found it difficult to color them, so it hasn’t been an issue for me. I have colored in these coloring books with gel pens and markers in the past, and I have found that as long as you put a blank sheet of paper in between the pages, you will end up being just find (there won’t be any bleed through).
While most of the designs aren’t quite as intricate as other coloring books, such as Secret Garden or Lost Ocean, some of them do tend to be a little more detailed. It’s so nice to have a choice between the two, because sometimes you are willing to devote more time to coloring, such as making it a project for a rainy afternoon, and yet sometimes you only have a half hour and might want something a little more simplistic.
Either way, if you’re looking for a perfect summery coloring book, this is definitely something you might want to check out. It’s a great choice if you want to do something beach-themed and don’t have the option to go to an actual beach! By the Shore is a definite favorite of mine that I know I’ll be bringing out to color in a lot.
