My Review

A while back, I reviewed the coloring book Secret New York, by Zoé de Las Cases, and I mentioned how whimsical and fun her drawings were, and how much I loved the book.  Well, she has a new coloring book out, Paris Street Style, and it is full of the same charm and beautiful hand drawn illustrations as her previous books.

Paris Street Style is full of clothing, shops, and patterns that all seem very Paris-y.  There are also pictures with makeup, purses, and shoes, and all of them are cute and stylish, and fun to color.

While I’ve never been to Paris, this coloring book almost makes you feel like you’re walking through beautiful Paris streets, looking in little shop windows at pretty dresses, and you generally get a nice feeling from the illustrations in the book.  While some of the patterns might not seem like they fit the book all that well, they’re still really pretty, and I loved looking through them.

The pictures in this book are just so pretty, and I had a great time coloring some of them with my favorite colored pencils.  I’m sure you could use markers or other art media, but just note that the pages are printed on both sides, and the paper isn’t all that thick, so there might end up being some bleed-through.

Along with the charming illustrations this book has to offer, it also is bound like a journal – there’s a nice little ribbon bookmark coming out of the spine of the book, as well as an
elastic loop that you can use to keep the book closed.  These are some really nice touches that make the book even more beautiful to look at.

I have a lot of adult coloring books, and this one is up there on my favorites list, because I don’t really have any other books that focus on fashion and clothing.  I really enjoyed this book (not just coloring it, but the pictures are really pretty and it’s nice to just look through).  It’s kind of like taking a little stroll through Paris!

Note: I received a copy of this book from the publisher through the Blogging For Books program.

I know it’s for adults, but my 8 year-old would love this! She’s totally into drawing dresses and stuff right now. Her friends are all about fashion. Haha.

Awe, I bet she would like this! This really would be awesome for her then…I would have liked something like it when I was little, too!
