Synopsis: From #1 New York Times bestselling author Robert Beatty comes a spooky, thrilling new series set in the magical world of Serafina.
Move without a sound. Steal without a trace.
Willa, a young nightspirit of the Great Smoky Mountains, is her clan’s best thief. She creeps into the homes of day-folk in the cover of darkness and takes what they won’t miss. It’s dangerous work — the day-folk kill whatever they do not understand. But when Willa’s curiosity leaves her hurt and stranded in a day-folk man’s home, everything she thought she knew about her people — and their greatest enemy — is forever changed.
Willa of the Wood is a magical story that is set in the world of Serafina. I’m going to admit now that despite having all of the books in the Serafina series, I haven’t actually read them (I know, I know). But this book is set in the same world, and after reading this, I absolutely cannot wait to go back and read through those three books, too.
Apart from that pretty green cover, the story in the pages is amazing. I was enchanted the entire way through, really loving the way the author wrote the book and brought the story and the characters to life.
This is a fun little thrilling novel with a few spooky (not scary) elements going on, but it makes the book a lot more fun and gives you a little dose of the unexpected. I had so much fun reading this, and I loved all the twists and turns that I didn’t see coming.
I have to say that what drew me into this book most was the author’s writing – he has such a gift for storytelling and this book proves that. The writing was captivating and enchanting and I absolutely was mesmerized by how wonderfully detailed the settings and the characters were.
The main character, Willa, is such a fun character, and I loved reading about her adventure through the whole book. The world building in this book is wonderful, and it shows that you don’t have to have read Serafina or the other books in that series to truly enjoy this one, even though it is set in the same world. I love that!
This book is atmospheric and enjoyable, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a little adventure in their lives!
Note: I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review – thank you!
