Love Scene, Take Two

Published by: Swoon Reads
Publication date: June 12th 2018
Genres: Contemporary, Romance, Young Adult

Debut author Alex Evansley delivers a sweet summer romance in this inventive novel about a young heartthrob and teen author falling in love.

Teddy Sharpe is kind of famous. He might actually be on his way to being really famous, especially if he’d nailed an audition for the lead role in the movie adaption of the newest bestselling young adult book series. There’s just one problem: He totally blew the audition. And he’s stuck in a tiny North Carolina airport. And his maybe-ex-girlfriend kind of just broke up with him.

The weekend isn’t exactly looking good until Bennett Caldwell, author of the very book series he just auditioned for, takes pity on him and invites him to her family’s lake house. Away from the glitz and glam of Hollywood for a few days, Teddy starts to relax . . . and somehow he and Bennett just click. But dating is hard enough when you aren’t the subject of several dozen fanblogs, and the Internet is full of juicy gossip about Teddy and Bennett . . . gossip that Bennett might not be prepared to handle.

Chosen by readers like you for Macmillan’s young adult imprint Swoon Reads, Alex Evansley’s debut novel, written from both Bennett and Teddy’s perspectives, will have teens laughing, swooning, and falling in love along with these fantastically relatable characters.

I love cute romance books!  For me, nothing says the start of summer like a cute little contemporary romance, and that is exactly what you get with Love Scene, Take Two.  It’s sweet and it has likable characters that will leave you feeling close to the story that lies within the book’s pages.

The story for Love Scene, Take Two is charming and fun, and really makes the perfect addition to a lazy summer day when you want some laughter and some swooning to occur.  The way that the book tells the story from both the viewpoints of the main characters is a nice addition – I always love reading books that are told with two different viewpoints because it really allows you to get inside the heads of the characters, making the book a lot more memorable.  I was so happy to see this in Love Scene, Take Two!

The characters, both Teddy and Bennett, were really interesting to read about and I did find myself loving reading from both of their perspectives.  I felt that both characters had a lot to bring to the story and that they truly made it something amazing – while it took me a few chapters to actually start to like Teddy’s character, eventually he kind of grew on me and I found myself loving reading about his feelings and emotions.  Bennett was an instant like for me, and I loved reading the chapters where Bennett was the narrator.

All in all, if you really enjoy cute romances that are quick page turners because of the captivating writing, you will probably really enjoy reading Love Scene, Take Two.  I highly recommend it for fans of contemporaries, and I think this book will really resonate with the YA community because of the fact that one of the characters is actually a YA author in the book and it ties in well.  I thought that was such a neat touch.

Note: I received an eARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review – Thank you!
