Before I Disappear

Author: Danielle Stinson

Publication Date: July 23rd, 2019

Publisher: Feiwel & Friends

Synopsis: Rose Montgomery parks her family’s trailer in Fort Glory, Oregon with one goal: to carve out a new life for herself and her little brother, Charlie. They need a fresh start for their family, and she thinks she’s finally found it in a town where nobody knows them.

But Rose’s plans come crashing down when, in an instant, Fort Glory disappears and every person in town vanishes into thin air—including Charlie.

Rose and four other teens become trapped in the Fold, a patch of woods caught halfway between the real world and the lost town. In the Fold, a mysterious force suspends the laws of physics, and everyone’s inner darkness has the power to kill.

To survive the Fold, Rose must unravel the clues Charlie sends her from the missing town. And Rose has to find Charlie soon—or he’ll be gone forever.

OH MY GOSH THIS BOOK.

THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING.

Okay, I’ll calm down now.

But really, this book was right up my alley! It was perfectly science-fictiony, and just a tiny bit creepy at parts, and oh my gosh I loved it so very, very much.

The cover is kind of clever, because it depicts a disappearing area, much like what happens in the book. I love covers that completely relate to the book! They are so much fun and so aesthetic to look at.

The characters, especially Rose, are the kind of characters I find it super easy to fall in love with and wish I knew them in real life. Rose was written incredibly well, with plenty of character growth and I loved her determination to save her brother from what was happening. Again, another book that displays amazing family dynamics, and because of this, it’s become one of my favorite books for 2019.

Another thing I liked about this book was how the author described settings and such. It was not only fun, it was also crucial to the story, and I think she did an excellent job telling her readers what was going on by allowing us to witness everything in our minds while reading. It was just great, because the details and the way the setting was described was perfect. Not too much, not too little – just the right amount.

If I could rate this book ten stars I would. I absolutely loved it.

Whether you are looking for some summer reading before heading back to school, or if you want a book you will completely lose yourself in, Before I Disappear is a book you don’t want to miss out on. After reading this, I actually went and bought my own copy of it just so I could read it again – that’s how great it was!

Note: I received an eARC of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
