5 Tips For Creating Your Perfect Home Library
With the advancements of technology, libraries and physical copies of books have started to fade into the background. For book lovers this is something which can be upsetting but unfortunately it can sometimes be unavoidable. For this reason, lots of people like to keep their own personal collection at home. Although it would be ideal, not everyone can afford to have an entire room that functions as a library. This is why we have come up with 5 ways that you can work on creating your perfect home library.
Find a location
Like we have discussed before, a library doesn’t necessarily need to be a whole room. Buying a stylish bookshelf for your living room or finding a comfy corner in your study can solve this problem. If you do have lots of books and struggle to find somewhere to keep them, you could always build a new place for them.
One creative option would be to invest in a steel building for your garden, which will allow you a private, and calm getaway to read. A lot of steel buildings can even be designed to become a den. Armstrong Steel for example allow you to customize your specific building online, with colour schemes, heating and other essentials for an outside library. This would be perfect for storing all your books and could also work as a writing space if you fancy giving it a go yourself. Decorating one of these buildings with shelves and chairs or beanbags could even make it into a chill out zone for any book lover.
Organise your library
For this step you don’t need to number your books using a complex system that you’ll never be able to follow, just make sure to pick a system you won’t forget. Why don’t you organise your books according to theme or if you’ve got extra time, alphabetically? Choose a system that suits you as, after all, this is your own personal library.
Pick great shelves
If you’re low on cash, it’s better to wait until you can afford stable shelves than to put up makeshift ones which might fall. Books are heavy, and they are your property so if they fall off the shelves, we are sure that you’d be disappointed. Damaged books are still treasures but we still want them to stay in the best condition possible.
Clean your books
Anyone that’s ever been to a library knows how dusty books and their shelves can get. If you’re creating your own library, make sure that you clean your books thoroughly before you set it up and then again often to make sure that they stay in great condition! Make sure to look carefully at the proper way to clean books though because you don’t want to damage them!
Not having enough space to fit all of your books can be a nightmare. If you don’t have enough space, why don’t you start stacking upwards. Make use of the height of the room and create a real library, you might need a chair or a ladder to reach the top books but don’t be afraid to add some higher shelves for a more realistic effect.
There are many other ways to create a home library, but we hope that you take note of our tips and get started today on adding one to your home!
