Synopsis: After getting caught hooking up with her best friend’s ex on the last day of junior year, Kendall starts senior year friendless and ostracized. She plans to keep her head down until she graduates. But after discovering her online identity has been hacked and she’s being framed for stealing from a dealer, Kendall is drawn into a tenuous partnership with the mastermind of a drug ring lurking in the shadows of her Brooklyn private school. If she wants to repair her tattered reputation and save her neck, she’ll have to decide who she really is—and own it. The longer she plays the role of “bad girl,” the more she becomes her new reputation. Friends and enemies, detectives and drug dealers—no one is who they appear to be. Least of all Kendall.

Wow – I really enjoyed this book!

From the cover (love the black with the hot pink) to the actual story itself, I enjoyed like every part of it.  The characters were spot on, the story was engaging and kept my attention, and the writing style was perfect.

The whole Accidental Bad Girl title and theme that this book had going on is appealing.  I really love reading books that have “bad girl” or “bad boy” characters as the main characters – I often find them refreshing instead of the constant “good girl” and “good guy” characters that you find in so many YA contemporaries.  So upon hearing the title I was excited for this book, and I hoped it would be exactly what I was expecting.

The main character in the book, Kendall, got caught hooking up with someone she shouldn’t be hooking up with – her best friend’s ex!  This starts her accidental bad girl image – and it doesn’t help that she loses her friends and her online identity has been stolen, linking her to drug deals.  Kendall is about to lose it – her reputation is completely ruined both online and off, and she has no idea what to do about it.  In order to fix that up, though, she’s going to need to admit who she is and get some help to get to the bottom of what’s going on, and decide whether or not she fits into the image of “bad girl.”

This book was a lot of fun, and I think that was one of the reasons I was so enthralled with it.  I love a good, fun read, and this was definitely right up my alley.

Kendall’s character was fun, too – sure, she did something she shouldn’t have (but who doesn’t, right?), but when everything else starts falling apart on on her, she has to look at herself and figure out how to change it and stop her reputation from falling any further into the toilet.

Character development was a huge thing in this book and I loved that – I’m always up for enjoying how a character manages to change from the beginning of the book to the end.  It makes the story feel that much more realistic to me.

If you want a fun, exciting contemporary, this is a great book for you!

Note: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.  Thank you!
